What is the truth about muscle building pills?
by on Mar.10, 2010, under Uncategorized
So I was reading Men’s Fitness on a plane and saw a bunch of muscle building pills, and a bunch of other ads for electronic muscle stimulation and stuff.
The electric machine sounds like bullcrap, but I was wondering if taking the muscle pills before/after a workout was really that beneficial.
If they are, what are the good ones to use, and what would you buy?
Thanks.

Question about building lean muscle and diet?
by on Mar.09, 2010, under Uncategorized
I have read different publications on this. Some say to do heavy weight with a low number of reps, others said to do light weight with a high number of reps. Which one is better for building lean muscle?
Also, what is the best diet for lean muscle? I am drinking 3 liters of water a day and have restricted my diet to 1500 calories.
And finally, is there a supplement that I should be taking with my workout? BSN Syntha-6? BSN Atro-Phex? Has anyone tried these and have they worked?
Thanks for all the answers and your opinions.

If you are like me, you probably said a thousand times “I’m going to start to start a muscle building program”. So you went to the local gym and for four months or so you worked out everyday in a muscle building program until eventually you start felling bored, your muscle building program consumes precious hours of your day and you eat 6-9 meals a day – not to mention looking at steroids with good eyes. Eventually you quit, and all that extra fat won’t go, in fact it becomes worse than before!
I realized this doesn’t work. I convinced myself that spending 3-4 hours everyday at the gym is not a good investment – we have families, time-consuming work, even we want to relax instead of lifting weight.
Most of these so-called gyms are relatively new in our society. A society that makes you spend $100 monthly on gym, a few more dollars in steroids and a couple of complements more. At this time you may be feeling the same as I did once, but I wondered, “how it was in the old days?”. When I was a kid, my father gave me a small book about muscle building program. This book was only 20 pages or so, with exact exercises to workout all the muscles in the body, an ideal muscle building program. After an initial laugh – the pictures where very funny for a 15- year old kid – I started to look this muscle building program and the fact is, none of the exercises used weights or anything, they where simple and straightforward, all you needed was to form the figure and produce resistance between the parts of your body. So I started to workout with this muscle building program, and I must say, the results were incredible. As years went by and gyms started to pop out all over, I forgot about this muscle building program. Now I have a 9-hour job, a family, and many obligations and the gym – as I told you before – doesn’t sound like a good way to stay in shape. so I remembered this little book. Of course I’ve lost it years ago but I figured out someone would have thought the same way somewhere. So I started to look for muscle building programs that resembled that little book. Soon I found this muscle building program based on the same principles that little book had: short exercise – 7 minutes! -, high results muscle building program. At first I was reluctant. I thought “Oh my, another of those muscle building programs” but somehow I was attracted by the concept, a concept I realized myself 20 years ago. So I thought “80 bucks is worth it to try, in fact I’m spending this same amount every month in a gym I don’t go”I have to tell you. . . this muscle building program uses the same principles of that little book and extend them further. Thanks to muscle training videos I don’t have to guess the exact positions to get the best results and everything is explained in detail. I started this muscle training program about two years ago and there was no single day I didn’t want to exercise, it is fun, I don’t get tired and the results are amazing, fat loss, incredible strong, and with only 7 minutes per day! Even my wife joined me when she saw the results. Now we workout together and if you see her you wouldn’t believe it’s because this simple muscle training program, you would think that it took several hours at the gym to get that slim body!I’m sure you’ll be delighted to get your time back and be in shape at the same time. When you are out to build muscle it is important that you realize right from the start one very important fact. Weight training does not build muscle, never has, never will. That’s just not how it works, you see weight training actually destroys muscle fibers, the body then rebuilds those fiber and builds new ones to supplement the rebuild ones in order to help prevent the damage from occurring again. What we call body building is just a systematic and control process of planned destruction and predictable reconstruction performed over and over again until we achieve the results that we desire. In order for body to be able to perform the rebuilding part of the process you need to provide it with the fuel and materials it needs to do so. Muscle is built primarily of water and proteins so you need to make sure that you are including large amounts of both into your muscle building diets. But, make sure that your muscle building diets are not mostly protein as this is unhealthy and can lead to certain medical conditions. The general rule of thumb is that you should be consuming 15%-20% for your daily calories from proteins but at the most you should never have more proteins in your daily intake that 50% of the carbohydrate you take in.

3 Real Truths About Muscle Building Diets
by on Mar.05, 2010, under Uncategorized
To build muscle and to keep that muscle, you need to think about your diet. Muscles need to be fed just like every other part of the body and starving them will not allow them to grow; they can even become weak and smaller when you don’t watch your diet. There are many muscle building diets advertised today, and many of them are just sales tools to sell you a supplement to use with that diet.
There’s nothing wrong with some supplements and in many cases they can make the difference between getting ripped and just having average muscle mass and tone. But since so many of these diets are typically just sales tools, how can you know which are the best for you and which are just hype? Of course it’s impossible to point out every single diet and eating plan and note which is good and which isn’t, and some will work for one person when perhaps they won’t work for another.
You can sort through these muscle building diets yourself if you understand some simple truths about them and how they’re supposed to work. If you understand the core principles of these diets, you can pick and choose through them on your own.
Truth #1: Feed muscles, and feed them often. If a diet is too restrictive, this means muscles can be starved. Obviously you’re not going to get ripped if your muscles are starving! You need lots of lean protein and complex carbs to support your workout routine, and you need to feed your muscles on a regular basis throughout the day.
Truth #2: You should never work out on an empty stomach. You don’t want to hop onto the treadmill or start lifting weights immediately after eating, but if your stomach is empty your muscles are not being fed. They will lack the nutrients needed to support your workout routine. So along with eating often, you need to time your meals and snacks so that your muscles are supported.
Truth #3: It’s not just about supplements. The right supplement or supplement program can do a tremendous amount of good in helping you to get ripped and to build muscle, but no supplement can take the place of a good eating plan. Good muscle building diets will instruct you on the proteins, complex carbs, and other elements needed for an overall healthy diet, not just one that’s supposed to bulk you up.
Remember these tips when sifting through the many muscle building diets out there today. If one seems unhealthy in any way, it probably is! Certainly no diet meant to build muscle should be followed if it sacrifices your health in any way. And if a diet seems like nothing more than a sales pitch, you might want to rethink that option as well. Some supplements are good but cannot take the place of a balanced eating plan and you really should educate yourself about supplements before considering them as part of your muscle building program. Always opt for a diet that not only builds muscle but that ensures good health overall.
